2006

A dream becomes a reality

Adam Day had been working as an estate agent since 1997, but started to dream up a different way of doing things in estate agency, taking into consideration the huge potential in the online property market.

2007

Listed 100th house on the market

A modern 4 bedroom detached house in Bicester, Oxfordshire, eventually selling for £280,000.

Completed on our 100th house sale

A 3 bed semi-detached home in our head office's home town of Hitchin. Saved the owner over £3,000.

2008

Listed 500th house on the market

Our 500th Listing, was, believe it or not, the property of the lady featured in the BBC Look East programme just across the time line. We sold the property for the owner and saved her around £7,000 in fees. Just like she said in the VT.

2009

Listed 1,000th house on the market

A Victorian townhouse in the seaside town of Portishead, just outside Bristol. We managed to find a buyer for the property, but the owner decided to stay put in the end and they are still there to this day.

2010

Completed on our 500th property sale

A detached home in Monks Risborough sold for £515,000 saving the client over £10,000.

Opened first regional office

Exeter office was the first of our regional offices to open in 2010. Since then, we have increased our presence in the region and have saved the people of the South West well over £1.5m in estate agency fees (as of December 2014).

2011

Listed 2,000th house on the market

Another property which we sold, but this time the buyer pulled out. It was a property in West Hagley, between Birmingham and Kidderminster. Once again, the owner decided not to move and again, is still there to this day. But this outlines perfectly why we charge up front - a traditional agent would have received nothing for the two sales above, therefore having to increase their fees to cover this 'abortive' work. However, with Hatched, everyone pays a little bit, rather a few unlucky people paying a lot.

2012

Listed 3,000th house on the market

The 3000th property we put on the market was a property in Diss, Suffolk - a 3 bedroom detached family home at £227,000. We sold it for £225,000, saving the owner over £4,000 based on a high street agency fee of 1.8% (latest Which? figures)

Completed on our 1,000th property sale

A 3 bedroom semi-detached house in Kingston-Upon-Thames whose owner happened to be a journalist. We didn't know that at the time, but suffice to say, she was so happy with the service, that she wrote a piece about it. We saved the owner over £7,000.

Opened 2nd regional office

Sheffield was the 2nd office to open after we had learnt an awful lot from opening Exeter 2 years earlier. Martin opened the office and is still there today covering the Northern part of England, as well as over to Hull and the East coast. Because of the huge popularity of the office in Sheffield, Martin has recently moved to new premises and has a member of staff working with him. The people of the North have saved over £2.5m in estate agency fees, as of mid-2015.

Opened 3rd regional office

Manchester opened 'hot on the heels' of Sheffield. Just one month later in fact. And again, Phil Thackray is still there running the show in the North West. Those fine folk in the North West have saved over 1.5m when selling through Hatched.

Listed 4,000th house on the market

This was a 2 bedroom cottage in Hitchin which we sold for a regular client of ours. Our client has now rented and sold a total of 4 properties through us and saved well in excess of £15,000 over the course of time using us for their properties. Our clients love us, and we love our clients.

2013

Opened 4th regional office

Birmingham was naturally the 4th office to open as we moved 'down South' from Manchester & Sheffield. The first chap in Birmingham was a great guy by the name of Ricky. Ricky went off to be a surveyor and we still stay in touch. Running operations in Birmingham now is Mark - a seasoned estate agent, having owned his own estate agency in the area in the early noughties. The people of the Midlands have saved almost as much as those in the North West - around £1.3m - in estate agency fees, as of mid-2015.

Completed on our 2,000th property sale

This was a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment above a parade of shops in North London with its very own roof terrace and was sold for the asking price of £275,000. Sometimes flats above shops can be tricky to sell from a legal point of view, but we managed the sale through to completion and saved the owner £5,400.

Listed 5,000th house on the market

A property in Sheffield was our 5,000th listing. It was in Norton Lees and was listed for £160,000 and was sold for the asking price, saving the clients just shy of £3,000. We hear it paid for their Summer Holiday that year!

Opened 5th regional office

Maidstone. Neil Mugford started in Maidstone covering the South East in October 2013 and is still with us today. Since we opened, those in the South East have saved around £1.6m.

Damian in Leeds has taken some of the workload off of Martin now and covers the Northern part of the North!

2014

Listed 6,000th house on the market

We marketed a modern 3 bedroom end-of-terrace home on at £215,000 which we sold for £209,000 - saving the owner £4,000 in estate agency fees!

20th employee starts

Completed on our 3,000th property sale

A 1930s bay fronted semi-detached home in Southampton which was on for £229,950 and guess what? We sold it for £229,950. A saving of well over £4,000.

Brick and Click

Adam Day, managing director, is invited to speak as a 'pioneer of online estate agency' at key industry event on a panel discussion about the changing estate agency industry speaking alongside managing director of Your Move and Commercial Director of Rightmove. Here is the list of guest speakers.

Opened 6th regional office

Nottingham - Sara started with us in June 2014 and has been busily working away to grow our reach in the East Midlands area where clients have so far saved over £800,000 in estate agency fees.

2015

Completed on our 4,000th property sale

We passed this milestone in March 2015.

Listed 8,000th house on the market

September 2015

Acquired by the Connells Group

November 2015 saw us as the first online estate agent to be acquired by a major estate agency group (press release), showing that they take us seriously!

Opened our Bradford branch

In December 2015, we set up in the Bradford area with Simon Barnett heading up local marketing.

2016

Opened our Wigan branch

David Bond joined us in January 2016 to set up shop in Wigan, near Manchester.

Opened our Guildford branch

Ali Mohtashami joined us in February 2016 to cover Guildford, in Surrey.

Opening soon in Preston and South London
