Getting To Know You: Serena Pears

What do you love most about living in Newcastle?

The people definitely make the city. It’s a friendly place with loads to see and do. I particularly love the art scene in the city and the fact it has a growing vegetarian and vegan culture.

What would be your top tips for increasing the value of your home?

Always concentrate on the kitchen and bathroom. They are the rooms that will sell the house. Put up some new clean tiles in both areas and if funds allow fit new units or bathroom suite.

How would you describe the property market in Newcastle at the moment?

The market is buoyant in Newcastle with a lot of new build estates currently under construction in the West End of the city. We do also have a lot of ex university students who tend to settle in the city after finishing their degrees; with the number of university places growing in the city so is the number of first time buyers.

What advice would you give to first-time buyers?

Look for a house you can add value too and try to see past the decoration of the property. You may be able to pick up a bargain by taking something in bad aesthetic condition.

How would you describe the culture at Hatched?

Everyone is friendly and really happy to help each other. There is defiantly no I in Team at Hatched.

Quick fire

Can you describe yourself in two words?

Humane and Driven.

In one sentence, describe your dream home

A converted windmill. This one would be perfect!

Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Listening to 80's cheesy music in the car.

What was the last film you saw?

Limitless; amazing movie!

If you could meet anybody in the world, who would it be?

The Dalai Lama.

Best place you’ve been?

Rome.
