Current Housing Market Trends

Published on 22 June, 2017

You’d be forgiven for being a little confused by news stories and articles on the current property market in the UK – some good, some bad and many sitting on the fence when it comes to an opinion.

So here some news straight from the market itself – some factual information about what has been happening in our business around the country since the start of the year.

Viewings & Sales on the increase

Since the start of the year, all of us here in the Hatched team have felt a noticeable increase in the number of viewings being requested as well as general inquiries. We put this down to many things, but from our conversations with customers, there is clearly a real appetite showing that now is the time to buy the right house – be it a bargain or simply just a dream home!

In the first 5 months of 2017 we saw an 18.56% increase in the level of viewings being booked compared with the same period in 2016. Coinciding with this, we have also seen a 27.40% increase in the number of offers coming from home buyers. House sales are also up by 14.84%.

So what does this mean to a cautious onlooker? Well if it’s applicable, you need to sell your current home first!

The good news is that if you heed the right advice of a good estate agent – our agents can be found at www.hatched.co.uk/about/the-team - you can get the correct marketing and the correct pricing in order to make the most of the activity still out there in the market place.

Marketing any property has changed in recent years though. We offer all of properties on our enhanced marketing package the Social and Digital Marketing Pack. This provides the customer with targeted social media boosters, reaching thousands of home movers through some of the biggest online portals in the world, such as Facebook and Twitter.

All of us at Hatched agree – these are a must when achieving the best price for a property!

Increased activity means more investment

The numbers of buyers and inquiries has meant extending the opening hours and the staffing levels accordingly. We have more staff working 5-8pm and weekends to cope with the increased demand from potential home movers.

We have dedicated staff to deal with viewing inquiries, staff who will handle offers and negotiate the best price, sales progression staff to take care of the transaction after the sale has been agreed, and in-house mortgage consultants who can advise and ensure the transaction is as safe as possible.
