Welcome to our 'Getting to Know You' feature. We're putting a member of the team under the spotlight as we get to find out more about them. Kicking things off this week is Hatched.co.uk Founder and former Managing Director, Adam Day.
How long have you worked at Hatched and what do you do day to day?
I started Hatched ;)
What did you do before working at Hatched?
I worked at a great high street agency in Hitchin which I joined from school. They taught me everything I know and it was a great grounding. But it was the right time to do something different and it's the best decision I ever made.
What do you love most about your role?
Everything about it. I love, and I mean I seriously love, being an estate agent. It's the best job in the world. But I also love being right in the centre of a changing industry and challenging the status quo. Just because agency has been done a certain way for decades doesn't mean it has to continue that way forever
What did you want to be when you were younger?
I wanted to be a cameraman. Maybe I'll still do it one day.
What would your Karaoke song be?
Wonderwall - Oasis. 500 miles - The Proclaimers.
What’s your favourite holiday destination?
USA. But we do go to Portugal quite a lot - it's beautiful on The Algarve. But the best holidays have always been in the states
Who is your favourite band or artist?
I'm a big Sinatra fan. The guy who won Stars in their Eyes as Sinatra played at my wedding, along with the best Dean Martin impersonator in the world - they were amazing. On my iPod playing this morning on my way to work, was Ed Sheeran.
Where in the world that you’ve not already visited would you like to go, and why?
So many places. All sorts of cities in America, but I suppose if I had to choose one, it would have to be Australia. It's furthest away and anyone I know who's been there has loved it!
Aside from food, water, and shelter, what one thing could you not go a day without?
Who is your hero?
I have quite a few hero's. From an estate agency point of view my two old bosses are massive hero's of mine - Dave & Paul. They guided me, taught me everything I know and I'm doing what I'm doing today, because of them. My wife is also one of my hero's. She's supported me in everything I have done with starting Hatched from an idea on a bit of paper on holiday in Portugal, allowing me to follow my dream whilst being a brilliant mum to our two little ones. And naturally, being a Spurs fan, I have some footballing heroes - Gary Lineker, Gazza, Ledley King, Teddy Sheringham, Gareth Bale and more recently, Harry Kane.
Be sure to check back soon, as each week we'll finding out more from each member of the Hatched Team.
