How long have you worked at Hatched, and what do you do day to day?

I am one of the founders of Hatched; I’ve been here since the very start, which was over nine years ago now. I am a Director mainly overseeing the lettings department, but also dealing with financial control and liaising with the accountants and book keeper.

What did you do before working at Hatched?

I worked for a high street letting agent here in Hitchin. I was based in a lettings management department, where I worked my way up to client account manager.

What attracted you to join Hatched?

Starting up Hatched with Adam was one of the most exciting times of my life. It was a big decision, starting up your own business, but obviously the right one.

What do you love most about your role?

I love the rewards that being your own boss bring. Building up a team of people that are like minded, and you enjoy coming in to work with every day. Still dealing with clients is important to me aswell, its always rewarding to guide landlords in the right direction with their investments, and helping them avoid the pitfalls that you can encounter when letting properties out.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

A footballer. A typical boyhood dream, but I love football and to be a professional footballer and play for your country would have been the ultimate for me. I played as a boy for a few teams and still play five a-side with the Hatched Team, but never good enough unfortunately. I’ve got a decent left foot, it’s just a shame about the right one!

What would your Karaoke song be?

There’s only one that gets me doing karaoke (after a few drinks) and that is 500 miles by The Proclaimers.

What’s your favorite holiday destination?

Two years ago I went to Belize for my honeymoon. A truly amazing place. We stayed in a few different places, starting in the rainforest doing a bit of trekking surrounded by some spectacular wildlife. We finished off on an island called Ambergris Caye, just a few hundred meters from the barrier reef that runs along the coast. A typical Caribbean island, white sand and palm trees, and some fantastic snorkeling and fishing. Will definitely be going back again one day!

Who is your favorite band or artist?

I would say a band called Land Of The Giants. They are based down in Devon and we saw them in a bar when were on holiday down there a few years ago. We had them play at our wedding not long after. Their fan base is growing now though, having done Glastonbury the last couple of years. Worth looking up!

Where in the world that you’ve not already visited would you like to go, and why?

I would love to go to South Africa. Here you can do the two things I have always wanted to do - go on safari and dive with a great white shark.

Aside from food, water, and shelter, what one thing could you not go a day without?

My iphone, as sad as that might be, so I can keep up with the latest football news!

Who is your hero?

I would have to say my dad. He’s a great role model, a good dad and successful business man. I still look to him for advice on a regular basis, and he has been on hand to talk to when we have had decisions to make as Hatched has grown.
