What do you love most about living in Swindon?

The thing that I love most about living in Swindon, is the fact that it is just off of the motorway so easy access to the south coast and central London, and the fact that the council decided to scrap speed cameras.

What would be your top tips for increasing the value of your home?

To make your house more saleable do not smoke indoors, take pet beds out before viewings and air the house. Try to accommodate viewings as often as possible or have an open day with 15-minute time slots so the viewers cross over, this creates a sense of urgency and can encourage more offers.

How would you describe the property market in Swindon at the moment?

The local property market in Swindon is fast moving, it’s great for rentals and sales of new homes and second-hand residential property. So long as it is priced correctly and marketed in the correct way then they sell and they sell quickly.

What advice would you give to first time buyers?

My Advice to first-time buyers is to have some savings that they can use to contribute towards a deposit and a very good credit rating, with new mortgage regulations making it very tough to get a mortgage. And a little bit of help from the bank of mum and dad! My parents lent me money for my first property all those years ago.

For people looking to move to Swindon for the first time, what are some great things to see and do?

The best things to see in Swindon range from the steam railway museum and the railway village that was built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, there are several white horses around that are carved into hills, the designer outlet village is good if you want to go shopping. There are many country parks dotted around the town which are great for BBQs etc.

How would you describe the culture at Hatched?

The culture at hatched is to help people move and offer great customer service at a fraction of the cost that the traditional agents offer for the same service. Right from the directors, down everyone has the same aim. Which is to sell as many houses or let as many as we can and save homeowners and landlords money.
